Membership
Membership terms & refunds.
Last updated September 29, 2026
The short version:
- Two levels: $90 a year with USCA national membership included, or $15 a year for club membership only.
- One payment covers twelve months. There are no automatic charges.
- Changed your mind? Ask within 14 days. At $15, you get it all back. At $90, how much comes back depends on whether we’ve registered you with the USCA yet.
- Dues are not tax-deductible.
The membership
There are two membership levels. Each covers twelve months from the day you join.
Full membership, $90 a year, includes:
- National membership in the United States Croquet Association (USCA). The club registers you and pays the USCA’s share of your dues, currently $75, on your behalf.
- Club play days, pop-up croquet events, lessons and tournaments.
- Your name on the club roster.
Club membership, $15 a year, includes club play days, pop-up croquet events and lessons, and your name on the club roster. It does not include USCA membership. If you already belong to the USCA, or would rather join it yourself, this is the level for you.
Some tournaments charge a separate entry fee, which is set by whoever runs the event.
Paying
You pay online through Stripe with a card or Apple Pay. The charge shows up on your statement as BIRMINGHAM CROQUET. Your dues are paid to Mountain Brook Croquet Club, the nonprofit corporation that does business as the Birmingham Croquet Club.
Renewing
We never charge your card again on our own. Before your year is up, we’ll send you a reminder, and you can renew with the same “Join the club” button on this site. Renew early and your new year starts when your current one ends, so you don’t lose any days. If you don’t renew, your membership ends when the year does, and you’re welcome to rejoin anytime.
Refunds
- Club membership ($15): within 14 days of paying, just ask and we refund the full $15.
- Full membership ($90), within 14 days of paying, just ask. If we haven’t registered you with the USCA yet, we refund the full $90. If we already have, we refund the club’s $15 share. The USCA’s share has already been paid to the USCA, and the USCA membership stays yours for the year.
- After 14 days, dues aren’t refundable, but your membership runs through the end of the year you paid for.
- If you were charged twice or charged the wrong amount, we’ll refund the mistake in full, whenever you notice it.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually take 5 to 10 business days to appear.
Price changes
If dues change, we’ll post the new price here and on the home page, right above the Join button. The new price applies the next time you renew. It never applies to a year you’ve already paid for.
Taxes
The club is a nonprofit corporation, but it is not a 501(c)(3) charity. Dues are not tax-deductible.
