Privacy — Birmingham Croquet Club

The short version:

When you join, we keep your name, email and phone number so we can run the club.
Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your card number.
Outside the club, only the USCA (to register your national membership, if you choose the $90 level) and Stripe (to take your payment) get your details, unless the law requires it.
We don’t sell your information, we don’t run ads, and this website doesn’t track you.

Who we are

“We” and “the club” mean the Birmingham Croquet Club. That’s the trade name of Mountain Brook Croquet Club, an Alabama nonprofit corporation based in Birmingham, Alabama.

What we collect

When you join or renew. Our checkout, run by Stripe, asks for your name, email address and phone number. Stripe collects your card or bank details to take the payment. Stripe gives us a record of the payment, including your name, email, phone, the amount, the date, and the last four digits and brand of your card. We never receive your full card number.

When you get in touch. If you message us, we keep what you send so we can answer it.

When you visit this website. The company that hosts the site, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, including your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. It uses them to run the site and keep it secure. This website sets no cookies, has no advertising, and uses no analytics or tracking tools. Stripe’s checkout pages set cookies of their own to process payments and prevent fraud.

How we use it

To keep the club roster and dues records.
If you choose the $90 full membership, to register you with the United States Croquet Association and keep that membership current.
To keep your payment records, and to send you renewal reminders and news about play days, events and tournaments.
To answer your questions.

Who we share it with

The United States Croquet Association gets your name and contact details, so it can register your national membership. This applies only to the $90 full membership.
Stripe processes payments for us. Its handling of your information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Club officers see the roster so they can run the club.

We don’t sell, rent or trade your information, and we don’t share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your roster entry and payment records while you’re a member and afterward, so the club’s accounts stay complete and we recognize you if you rejoin. Stripe and the USCA keep their own records under their own policies.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or have it corrected. You can also ask us to stop sending club news at any time.

Children

We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this page, we’ll update the date at the top.
